My sister Krista (aka the “cooler sister”) has a theory that every girl should have a go-to date dress. For a while, she rocked an adorable black tank dress with sunflowers all over it, but recently bought this off-the-shoulder number (super trendy~ right now) in California & now it’s been proclaimed as “the new date dress.” Obviously, it’s a great dress for occasions other than dates, but just in case you wanna make someone special swoon, check out more below.

If you haven’t noticed, off the shoulder everything is all the rage right now. I love that this dress is denim (given my intense love for jean jackets) because it’s the perfect warm-weather neutral–it legit goes with everything. Plus the denim makes it casual but the off the shoulder makes it sexy, aka the perfect thing to wear on a date.

As much as I love nude heels, Krista loves the opposite of them. She’s anything but preppy so if you’re looking for an edgier look, opt for something strappy & studded. Want to kick it up a notch? Rock studded heels instead.

And of course, what’s a summer look without some shades. I love my Wayfarer Ray Bands but the cat-eye sunglasses are making a comeback. Bonus: get them with mirrored lens & now they’re a statement piece.
