Coffee Shop Copy Cats

I’m not gunna lie–I’ve been craving Starbucks (specifically a iced caramel macchiato–my special occasions drink) for a solid two weeks now. Probably more so because I know I can’t just go out & get one. Oh the joys of quarantine.

However, just because we’re stuck in our homes without access to coffee shops does not mean we need to suffer from the lack of quality caffeinated drinks (although, some of your local coffee shops may be open & you should totally support them if can/want to!) As part of my job, I run a student Instagram account (seriously) & I recently posted how to make their favorite campus coffee shop drinks (heyyy @holygrounds) at home to “bring a little campus to them” in this weird/sad time. Got me thinking–I should share this former barista knowledge with a larger audience because who doesn’t love a great cup of coffee?

So below I have recipes/instructions for: cold brew, steamed frothy milk (to top your coffee/espresso and BAM you have a latte), chai tea latte (hot or chilled) & iced matcha latte. The photos at the bottom are little recipe cards to download/pin to Pinterest if you want to save them for later. Enjoy!

The Best Coffee Products for Caffeine Lovers

I’m a fairly passionate person. Most people who know me would agree. (Some might confuse this as “dramatic” or “obsessive,” but I prefer “passionate” ;)) Of all the things I love, I’d have to say that I’m most passionate about the following items:

especially coffee. Funny thing is, I didn’t grow up drinking coffee. In fact, my parents HATE coffee. I attribute my love for coffee to being a barista at the coffee shop on Villanova’s campus and my short Starbucks stint after I graduated. And even though I haven’t always been a coffee drinker, I’ve always looooooved coffee shops/coffee shop culture (Fun fact: I even did two research projects on coffee shop culture for undergrad/grad school #nerd).

Of course, being passionate about coffee has lead me to become a little bit of a coffee snob (ugh, once you taste REALLY good coffee, you can never go back) so I thought it’d be kinda fun to share all my favorite coffee products that I’ve discovered over the years for all you caffeine lovers out there. Read it for yourself or share with the coffee-lover in your life. Enjoy ~

How to (Realistically) Become a Morning Person

I guess this post is a little unfair of me because I’m naturally~ a morning person, but I realize that a lot of people are not. Unfortunately for you night owls, the American working society kind of forces you to become morning people so might as well embrace it for what it’s worth vs. dreading getting out of bed (which morning people sometimes hate too, believe it or not).

There are a lot of articles out there on “how to become a morning person,” and I can guarantee that they probably go a little something like this:

  1. Don’t hit snooze & get out of bed immediately.
  2. Spend 15 minutes stretching/doing yoga/bullet journaling/some other thing you probably don’t have time for.
  3. Eat a hearty, full breakfast that you most likely don’t want to make/will make you late.

Listen. Even as a morning person, I’m calling bullsh*t on all the “morning person” articles. No one in their right might can JUMP out of bed as soon as their alarm goes off (I certainly can’t) nor does the normal human being have the time/energy to do like 15 different activities AND get ready for work AND cook a full breakfast every morning. I’m all for taking back your mornings (once in a while & in an enjoyable way!), but for everyday, routine mornings here are some realistic suggestions on how to become more of a morning person.
