My Thoughts On ’13 Reasons Why’

*Hi there. Just wanted to mention that this post contains a few spoilers. Additionally, ’13 Reasons Why’ and this post may be potentially triggering to some individuals–please watch & read at your own risk.

Wow. 13 Reasons Why. It’s pretty much the only thing I can say about it, having finished it a week ago: wow.

By now, I’m sure you’ve heard of the Netflix original series, 13 Reasons Why, based on the popular young-adult novel written by Jay Asher. In brief, 13 Reasons Why is about a girl, Hannah, who commits suicide and leaves behind 13 cassette tapes explaining the events that lead up to her death. Each tape is dedicated to a different person & each represents a reason why she decided to end her life.

To say this series is intense is an understatement. To say that it’s just another binge-worthy series on Netflix doesn’t do it fair justice. From the very first episode, I was sucked into the story, characters and the overall message of the show. I was tempted to watch the entire series in one sitting, but ended up having to stop after a few episodes because the whole story is extremely heavy. It stuck with me even when I wasn’t watching it; I often thought about in between viewing each episode.

What to Expect from Your First SoulCycle Class

Last weekend, I reached my peak state of basicness: I went to a SoulCycle class. I know, hard to believe it’s taken me this long, but my curiosity finally got the best of me & I wanted to see what the hype was (S/o to Aminah for taking me, you’re the bomb.com). Well, everything you’ve heard about it is true and I get why people are obsessed with it because SoulCycle is absolutely LIT.

SoulCycle is more than just an exercise class, it’s a true experience. That sounds super dramatic & ridiculous, but it couldn’t be more true. It’s not just a spin class. You may roll your eyes at “finding your SOUL” while riding a stationary bike, but trust me, you have to be there to believe it. Yes, it’s an extremely hard workout (you will sweat A LOT) but you actually do walk out of there feeling incredibly empowered.

So if you’re even remotely considering SoulCycle, just sign up & give it a try. And just so have a head’s up, here’s what to expect from your first class.

I Got a Tattoo (& Things to Consider if You Want One, Too)

So I got a tattoo yesterday. To some people, this may be extremely surprising that I got a tattoo at all. To others, it may be extremely surprising that I actually pulled the trigger & went through with it. No, this was not some super spontaneous decision to permanently mark my body–a lot of people don’t know I’ve been thinking about this for about a year and half & finally made a solid decision to do it about two weeks ago. Regardless, I can honestly say that I’m ridiculously happy I did it & I’m actually obsessed with the whole experience and how it all turned out.

Beyond that, I was overwhelmed by the amount of support I got from my friends when they saw the final product on social media. I also got a lot of questions about the process & how I’m feeling about it, so I wanted to dedicate a post about my tattoo experience and some things to consider if you’re contemplating getting one too. Enjoy!
