7 Things to Do in Philly This Fall

*Hi there! I originally wrote this post in September 2016, but have recently updated it to include all 2017 dates! Hope you enjoy all the fun, Philly fall things.

Pack up your white pants, break out the boots & grab a PSL because it’s finally fall. While I truly love summer, I’m ready for the crisp weather & participating in all the fun fall things. Well good news for me and all fellow fall-lovers, Philly is jam packed with autumn activities. Whether you’re looking for a fun date or a day with your friends, here are 7 things you have to do in Philly this fall.

Philly, fall looks good on you.

Kick off your fall season with some pumpkin patches, apple picking & hay rides. Located in Media, PA, Linvilla Orchards has a little bit of everything and something for everyone. Their website advertises: “Enjoy live music and entertainment, hayrides, train rides, pony rides, and face painting. Test your navigation skills our straw bale and cornfield mazes. Pick Your Own fall apples. Grab some candy and caramel apples. See the Linvilla jack-o-lantern exhibit and don’t miss our annual Costume Parade!” Aka the quintessential fall outing–and the perfect backdrop for you basic Instagrams (no shame).

Terror Behind the Walls

(select days* September 22-November 11, Eastern State Penitentiary)

If you’re into haunted houses, head over to Eastern State Penitentiary for Terror Behind the Walls. Featuring six attractions, this massive haunted prison is ranked among the top haunted houses in the country. It’s fully interactive, completely terrifying and the best way to get in the Halloween spirit. Just be prepared to be scared out of your mind.

Brauhaus Schmitz’s Oktoberfest Street Festival

(September 16, South Street)

Hosted by Brauhaus Schmitz on the 700 block of South Street, this is one Oktoberfest you won’t want to miss. Enjoy music, a Bavarian buffet and of course, a ton of beer. If this 8-hour extravaganza isn’t enough for you, Brauhaus Schmitz is holding events all week long leading up to the main event. Lederhosen not included.

Manayunk StrEAT Festival & Restaurant Week

(Festival: September 14, Restaurant Week: September 15-28, Manayunk)

Come hang out in the Yunk, and try food from over 50 Philly food trucks. There’s a little big of everything, but you’ll find each vendor will feature a dish with this festival’s special ingredientapple! You can also peruse the local Manayunk shops and vendors while listening to live street music. Then immediately following the StrEAT Fest, is Manayunk’s restaurant week. Enjoy all of Manayunk’s awesome restaurants for a steal. Win-win.

Philly Free Streets

(October 28, location TBD)

Inspired by the success of the first free streets events, Philly will be closing up to nine miles of streets so you can freely walk (or jog, jump, bike, dance, etc.) through Center City for a whole day. Be sure to keep checking their Facebook page for specific road closures and details!

PHeaSt on South

(October 6, PHS Pop Up Garden at South Street, 15 and South Streets)

I am a big fan of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (mostly because of their awesome pop up gardens) and this fall they’re holding their annual PHeaST event which features local growers and chefs for a true garden-to-table experience. It is a little pricey for a ticket, but all proceeds go to the PHS City Harvest program, which provides healthy produce for Philadelphia families in need. Plus it’s a unique experience and a totally different way to spend a night out!

Philly’s Cheesesteak and Food Fest 2017

(September 23, Citizens Bank Park)

What’s more Philly than a cheesesteak? This day-long event obviously features local cheesesteak vendors, but will also include Philly food trucks, a craft beer garden, carnival games and live music. And for you cheesesteak die-hards, there’s also a cheesesteak eating contest. One whiz with, please.

Which event are you dying to go to? Can’t wait to see all your fall instas. &.
