It was my birthday a few weeks ago. It was also my friend’s birthday at the beginning of the month. What do two basic betches do for their birthdays? Brunch of course. Mission Taqueria, a trendy~ new mexican place, just opened in Center City. I went there for happy hour (v good) and they do brunch, so we dragged all our friends there because why not. Brunch: the gift that keeps on giving.
For Review: Mission Taqueria
Location: Center City, Sansom between 15th & 16th
Mexican brunch? Yea, I was a bit skeptical too. I’ve never done Mexican brunch (I’m more of a traditional brunch gal), but it was FAB. It’s truly never too early for chips & salsa. It’s definitely a more savory brunch, but highly recommend the chilequiles (fried egg over salsa and cheese and all the yummy things) or the huevos rancheros (sunny side egg over cheese and chips). And if you can’t pronounce anything on the menu (guilty), you can always order the breakfast burrito. {Full menu here}
If you pick brunch for the atmosphere…You won’t be disappointed. I absolutely love that it’s mostly white with pops of color and exposed brick. Plus they have these really cool picnic tables (aka perfect for big brunch groups).
Coffee lovers, rejoice! They have “Guatemalan Drip” coffee (iced and hot) and it’s probably some of the best coffee I’ve ever tasted (always a pleasant surprise). They also have fresh juice/smoothie things (like pineapple, jicama and mango aptly named “Yellow”) and of course, margs (go crazy).
The *: Brunch is kinda hella cheap. No lie, probably one of the cheapest brunches I’ve had in center city. Also, it’s brand new but catching on quick (I’m dying to go back for happy hour) so go before it gets super crowded.
The bottom line: Try Mexican brunch. Because you’re only 24 once & trendy Mexican places are always fun with your best friends.
Here’s to my friends putting up with me being a blogger all the time & non-traditional brunches &.
What an interesting brunch location. The breakfast burrito looks amazing! I only wish I lived in Philly instead of NYC to enjoy this
